K2K ReImagined Season One

K2K ReImagined Season One will run September to December 2020 as an adapted and “ReImagined” response to COVID19 and current health guidelines. This semester will continue weekly program nights with teaching, training, activities and small group sessions online. Workshops will compliment community, character and faith building through weekday sessions and some Saturday’s in preparation for upcoming performances. These workshops/rehearsals will take place in-person and online depending on health guidelines, ability to sing in-person and school decisions. Utilizing radio plays, choral music and video production, students will perform online presentations that highlight their strengths, abilities, and interests.

This unprecedented season has created new opportunities for us to continue meaningful relationships and ensure every student feels welcome to be involved while being coached in life, current circumstances and theatre. Protocols will be in place to ensure students are safe and current health guidelines are followed.

K2K Program & Productions

Weekly Program & Small Groups

K2K Productions values mentorship and coaching. Every student is placed in a small group with a screened volunteer who is trained in this role. The intention of small groups is to share life together, care for one another through face-to-face conversations and learn about character and faith through musical storylines and activities.  Large group teaching, training & activities will take place too.

Productions

This year’s performances will include the beloved stories of The Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life. These presentations will be produced by video and will be shared as online ticketed events during the 2020 Christmas season. Depending on registration numbers, two casts & separate performance dates may be created for Take 1 and Take 2 Companies. If guidelines allow, presentations will include choral songs presented by groups of students, or individual music recordings will take place. Opportunities for casting could include character roles, folley artists (sound effects), commercials, singing and movement.

Workshops will train individuals and smaller ensemble groups in singing and acting and help students prepare for shows. A minimum of six workshops will take place for each student during Season One and will be offered at various times during the week and on Saturday’s. Options will be given based on your student’s availability, school schedule and their specific role in shows. Sign up for these workshops and rehearsals will occur following auditions and will be unique to each individual. Creating success for students is individualized and dependent on consistent attendance and effort in program and production elements.

Recording Sessions

Recording sessions will take place between Saturday Nov. 28 to Tuesday Dec 8. This creates a unique opportunity for students to experience production in studios. Times will be posted as early as possible and attendance is mandatory. Please reserve these dates on your calendar today.

Auditions

Every student can participate in K2K Productions regardless of previous experience or background in theatre arts and faith. No audition is required to register. Auditions for specific roles in upcoming shows typically take place after the program starts each year. Roles are casted based on students’ interests, skills and goals. Auditions for K2K ReImagined Season One will take place during week 1 and will be submitted online. Options and instructions for what and how to prepare will be given during Parent Orientation & program night (week 1).

Communication

We value clear and open communication. Each family will require access to our new K2K Portal for all information about program, expectations, and schedule. Some email communications will arrive in your inbox and events will be posted via social media.

Sign In & Out is required for students in Grades 2-8 when we are meeting in person at Movement Church, Woodstock, ON (65 Lansdowne Ave). This is for safety reasons and if you are unavailable for pick up, the authorized person on your registration will need to be confirmed.

Parent Orientation

Parent Orientation is mandatory at the start of every season. This will be a 45-minute session hosted online on September 16 or 17 (you choose date while registering) and a minimum of one adult from each household is required to attend. This information ensures we can create as much success as possible for everyone. You are important to us and we value mutual understanding as we approach this season with your student.

Registration

Registration will be limited due to student and volunteer ratios in small groups and this unique season. As part of K2K ReImagined, each student will receive a long sleeve t-shirt which is included in their registration fees. A deposit and remaining payments must be pre-arranged for registration to be complete.  Some subsidy for registration is available. Contact K2K prior to registering to discuss, here.
