About K2K Productions

K2K Productions is a registered charitable organization that exists to help young people discover who they are, where they fit in, and their purpose through faith, mentorship, and the performing arts.

Rooted in Christian faith and values, K2K has been serving young people and families for more than 20 years by providing a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment where students grow in confidence, leadership, friendships, creativity, and faith while participating in high-quality theatre experiences.


As a faith-based organization, K2K is guided by its mission, Statement of Faith, and core values. Board Members are expected to support and uphold these guiding principles while serving as faithful stewards of the organization.

Our Programs

K2K Productions serves hundreds of students and families each year through:

  • Weekly Theatre Companies
  • VISTO Performing Arts Camp
  • Leadership development opportunities
  • Community and School performances
  • Community Outreach Initiatives

Every decision of the Board helps ensure these programs continue to impact young people for generations to come.


Purpose of the Board

The Board of Directors provides governance, strategic leadership, accountability, and stewardship for K2K Productions.


The Board is responsible for safeguarding the organization's mission, overseeing financial health, ensuring legal and fiduciary responsibilities are fulfilled, and supporting the long-term sustainability of the organization.


The Board governs the organization but does not manage its day-to-day operations, which are the responsibility of the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and staff.

Responsibilities of the Board

Governance

Protect and advance the mission, vision, and values of K2K Productions.

Ensure the organization operates ethically and in accordance with its bylaws and applicable legislation.

Provide governance rather than operational management.


Strategic Leadership

Participate in strategic planning.

Help identify future opportunities and challenges.

Support the long-term sustainability and growth of K2K Productions.


Financial Stewardship

Review budgets and financial reports.

Ensure responsible stewardship of charitable resources.

Support long-term financial sustainability.


Organizational Oversight

Support policies that provide a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment for students, families, volunteers, and staff.

Exercise sound judgment while acting in the best interests of the organization.


Advocacy & Community Engagement

Serve as ambassadors for K2K Productions.

Promote awareness of the organization's mission.

Encourage partnerships, sponsorships, philanthropy, and community support.

Board Member Commitments

Meeting Attendance

Board Members are expected to:

Attend monthly Board meetings.

Review meeting materials before each meeting.

Participate actively in discussion and decision-making.


Committee Participation

Every Board Member is expected to actively serve on at least one Board committee.


Current committees include:

  • Fundraising & Resource Development
  • Financial Assistance
  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Strategic Planning
  • Other committees established by the Board

Committee meetings are held throughout the year in addition to regular Board meetings.


Annual Giving

Every Board Member is expected to make an annual personal financial contribution to K2K Productions.

There is no required minimum amount. We believe every Director should participate personally in supporting the mission they help govern.


Advocacy

Board Members are encouraged to:

  • Attend productions, fundraising events, and community initiatives whenever possible.
  • Build relationships that strengthen K2K.
  • Introduce prospective donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Help increase awareness of K2K's mission and impact.


Time, Talent & Treasure

As members of the K2K Productions Board of Directors, we commit to serving through our time, talent, and treasure.

  • Time by actively participating in Board meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives.
  • Talent by sharing our professional expertise, wisdom, and community connections.
  • Treasure by making an annual personal financial contribution in support of K2K's mission.

Together, these commitments strengthen K2K Productions and help ensure the organization continues to provide life-changing opportunities for young people and families.


Time Commitment

Board Members should expect to commit approximately 4-8 hours per month, including:

  • Monthly Board meetings
  • Committee meetings
  • Reviewing Board materials
  • Annual strategic planning sessions
  • Attendance at major productions, fundraising events, and other organizational initiatives whenever possible


Confidentiality

Board Members receive confidential information relating to finances, personnel, strategic planning, students, and organizational operations.

All confidential information must be protected and may only be shared when authorized by the Board or required by law.


Conflict of Interest

Board Members are expected to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest and comply with K2K Productions' Conflict of Interest Policy.


Screening & Expectations

Board Members are expected to:

  1. Complete the Board application and interview process.
  2. Sign an annual Board Member Commitment Agreement.
  3. Sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
  4. Comply with K2K governance, child safety, and organizational policies.
  5. Complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Check if required by Board policy.

 

Term of Service

Board Members are appointed in accordance with the K2K Productions By-laws.

Board terms are 3 years, with eligibility for renewal as determined by the Board and the organization's bylaws.
