SENIOR COMPANY AUDITIONS 2026-2027

Audition Information

  • Auditions: A Note From The Artistic Director

Student auditions are an important part of your K2K Productions experience & growth!

Auditions are created to be fun and challenging and are for some a new experience. This process allows us to meet your student individually and consider their skills, ability, confidence and willingness to learn and take direction. We hope every student can walk away proud of what they have prepared and accomplished. We only want to encourage them through the entire process.

Some students choose to not sing at their auditions and may prefer to talk about how they would like to be involved in the performances. This is welcomed and valuable for us to know and understand. Information on what to prepare will be shared during our first few weeks of program.

In selecting a cast, lead roles are sometimes seen as “the ultimate goal”….but, we do not agree. Students are placed in a variety of roles and our hope is that each and every one of them will make the very best of the opportunity they are given. A lead role in a previous year does NOT guarantee a lead role in the future. Our intention is to create opportunities for students to showcase their abilities, grow as individuals & artists - no matter the role they are given. K2K works hard in partnership with their Creative Team to highlight skills as presented. We believe performances showcase this philosophy.

K2K Junior Company will have 2 separate casts this season to allow more opportunity for every student all year long and additional performance dates have been added too.  The vision and leadership for each Company will be the same. At times, specific characters from both casts may rehearse together; and at times, this will be done separately.  Siblings and those students commuting >30 mins for K2K will be cast in the same company.

As we enter this season with your student, I encourage you to consider how you might cheer and encourage your student in preparing their audition and allowing their submission to be their very own.

Each one of our students is richly blessed – we desire to help discover and share these gifts with integrity!

    ~Brian

  • How To Audition

We know that everyone has different comfort levels and experiences with auditions.  That's ok!  We are here to celebrate you, your talents and encourage you along the way.

This year, we invite you to sign up for an In-Person Audition Date OR submit your Audition by Video

In-person auditions are being held on:

  • Preparing For The Audition

Students will know what to prepare within the first 2 weeks of program.   Auditions are made up of  three parts where our team will get to know you better.

    PART 1.  Introduce yourself.

Introduce who you are and a few things about yourself.  You could include your special interests, favourite/disliked foods, hobbies and what character you think you might like to be in your upcoming show.  Speak clearly and to your "audience".  Use lots of energy and just be YOU!

PART 2.  Present your Sides (lines/  dialogue found below)

Select one of the "sides" below and practise it with your best theatrical skills possible!  We strongly encourage this to be memorized and for you to have fun with it too. You can choose to dress up, use props and movement - it's up to you and what you feel comfortable presenting.  To choose, you might like to select the character from the show that you are interested in auditioning for.  If unsure, choose any character.

PART 3.  Sing the Audition Song

Practise the highlighted part of the song on the Vocal - Sheet Music button, with the Vocal - Guide Track and when you're ready, the Vocal - Performance track.  During the audition (in-person or video) you will be using the performance track.   Feeling a little nervous about this?  During an in-person audition, someone on the team can support you & sing along, if necessary.

  • Dance Auditions

Dance Auditions will take place during program night & in smaller dance groups.  Be sure to bring your dance footwear/indoor shoes every week.   Review these videos, teach them to your parents, and have fun with these moves!  The creative team looks forward to seeing your "dance audition" on [DAY,DATE]

A video of the rehearsal dance choreography is posted below.

  • Callbacks

Once auditions are complete, specific students may be invited by the team to come to a Callback.  This provides opportunity for students to sing & read lines with other students & team members to see about specific casting etc.  If you're hoping to be invited to come and sing a specific role in-person - you will be able to start reviewing the content that may be asked.

SAVE THE DATE!  Callbacks will take place on [DAY, DATE] and are in-person only.

Specific times will be provided for those students invited to do so.
